Les Adrets · Wed & Sun until 1 pm
The village market
Only a few stalls, but the produce is fresh and excellent: fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, cheese and honey.
Les Adrets de l’Estérel · Provence
Views over the Estérel to the Mediterranean, sunsets and sunrises, the song of birds and cicadas.
01Welcome
We are the Rusin family, an international family (French, Polish and American) living in Switzerland with our lovely children Lila (11) and Leo (9).
We bought this home in 2018 to live in it all year round, before a professional opportunity took us to Lausanne. Julie’s family lives in the area, and we spend our holidays here, unless we are off on a discovery trip with Home Exchange.
Every year we improve the house a little more: we built the deck and the pool, renovated the kitchen and bathrooms, installed air conditioning and mosquito nets, and lately we have been working on the garden, which is great fun.
We know not everything is perfect, and we always appreciate your feedback. Above all, we hope you enjoy what makes this place unique: nature all around, the view over the Estérel with the sea on the horizon, the sunsets and sunrises, and the song of birds and cicadas.
The Rusin family

The cicadas sing,
the sea is on the horizon.
02The house
The key box is at the house entrance, on the ground floor.
The key box code is shared with you before arrival.
Network: Livebox – F130
Scan the QR code above the kitchen light switch to connect. The password is on the same card.
Bed linen and towels are provided. Beds: 1 × 160 × 200 cm, 1 × 140 × 200 cm and 2 × 90 × 200 cm.
The inside of the house is non-smoking. Please never throw cigarette butts in the garden: the risk of forest fires is very high.
Mitsubishi air conditioning on both floors cools the house in summer and heats it on cold days. Use the remote, and keep the windows closed while it runs.
Provençal tip for a heat wave: open the windows at night to let the cool air in (unless the air conditioning is on), and half-close the shutters during the day.
The shutters are solar powered. Use the wall switches to open or close them (double click).
To close, slide them all the way down, then gently pull towards you to lock. To open, do the opposite.
The instantaneous water heater can run out if several people shower at once. Wait about fifteen minutes and hot water is back.
Never let the coffee machine run out of water, or it can be hard to start again.
Yoga mats are in the closet of the upstairs double bedroom. The upper terrace is a lovely spot for yoga.

The pool
The pool is looked after by a professional who comes every week or every other week, depending on the season.
An optional heat pump can warm the water for €10 per day.
The pool has a safety alarm which, by law, must always be on. The activation code is in the house.

Evenings
Besides the solar lights, the pool can be lit at night: the switch is in the living room, in the left corner above the TV.
The string lights around the upper terrace plug into the terrace socket behind the barbecue.
Please close the parasol when you leave the pool. They break easily in the strong winds that can rise suddenly here.
A Weber Q 2400 electric barbecue is at your disposal.

Household waste goes in the container at the top of Chemin des Manons: turn left, then immediately right. Recycling is at the entrance of the village.
Map03Around the villa
Approximate driving times from the villa. Without traffic: in summer the coast roads can be much slower.
04Markets & food

Les Adrets · Wed & Sun until 1 pm
Only a few stalls, but the produce is fresh and excellent: fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, cheese and honey.

Les Adrets
The village bakery reached the semi-finals of France’s best bakery competition. Be patient: the queue can be long, but it is worth it.

Les Adrets · village centre
The recently opened butcher offers daily dishes and excellent meat. Don’t miss the pissaladière, a Provençal flatbread from Nice: one of the best we have ever had.

Fayence · Tue, Thu & Sat
A lively market on Place Thiers with local, seasonal produce. Lovely atmosphere, especially in summer, and a great way to discover the flavours and artisans of the region.
05Favourite restaurants

Fayence · 30 min
A gourmet Mediterranean meal in a beautiful Provençal setting: an ancient olive oil mill turned into a restaurant and hotel. We got married there!
They used to offer weekday lunch deals, and the outdoor terrace is beautiful.
Combine it with the hilltop villages nearby: Seillans, Fayence or Tourrettes.

Tourrettes · 30 min
A hotel, spa and golf resort set in unspoiled nature, with views over the hilltop villages of the Pays de Fayence.
Treat yourself to the spa (KOS and Valmont treatments), perhaps followed by a gourmet lunch at Les Caroubiers, the resort’s clubhouse restaurant.

Cannes · 30 min
A beach restaurant on the Riviera, right on the sand.

Port de la Rague · 25 min
A beach club facing the red rocks of the Estérel, with a super good smash burger.
06Excursions

10 min · Hiking, cycling, riding
Countless trails for hiking, cycling and even horse riding. One of our favourites is only ten minutes away, with panoramic views over the whole reserve down to the Mediterranean.
Drive to the Maison Forestière du Malpey and continue up to the barrier. The view is already there where you park: take a flat walk, or climb Mont Vinaigre if you feel brave.

15 min · Paddle, canoe, sunsets
A peaceful lake for paddleboarding, canoeing, or simply a magical sunset.

Day trip · 1 h 50
For the adventurous: emerald water and dramatic cliffs. Go up the gorges from the lake at Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, or take the winding road through Bargemon and Trigance, where the bakery still bakes in a wood-fired oven.

Pays de Fayence
Fayence, Callian, Mons, Montauroux, Seillans, Tanneron and Tourrettes: each sits on its hilltop, with medieval lanes, panoramic views, historic sites, local food and wine.
A more authentic, less crowded Provence. Our favourites:

35 min
One of the most beautiful villages of France.

30 min
For its market in the old quarter.

30 min
Tiny and remote, with views and mimosa in bloom in February.

30 min
For its art galleries and open-air museum.
07Côte d’Azur
Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Nice and Monaco are all within easy reach.

Scenic drive
The coastal road along the Estérel between Fréjus and Mandelieu-la-Napoule, with red rocks plunging into a deep blue sea.

25 min
A picturesque little town between the sea and the red rocks, below the Château de Théoule. Lovely beach restaurants such as Chez Philippe or Plage Blanche (with valet parking).

25 min
Hidden at the Port de la Rague, facing the red rocks and the Château de Théoule. A great snorkelling spot, and a beach club where you can spend the whole day on the mattresses.

20 min
Easy sandy beaches and sheltered coves, great with little ones. A picturesque centre with plenty of places to eat, and Glacier Les Cascades, one of the best ice-cream makers around.
